Well, it’s here again. Rather different to last year’s Independence Day.
What did you do last year that you are unable to do this year?
Over here in the UK, we’ve just been released from Lockdown. It remains to be seen whether we’re flirting with a Second or even a Third Wave.
Not waving, but drowning.
But, judging by the way hordes of people flocked to the beaches during our recent spell of fine weather, the freeing from Lockdown is a disaster waiting to happen.
There was no social distancing. How many of those carefree, sun-kissed, irresponsible people are, even now, breeding the coronavirus? And will they be responsible for killing a much-loved granny?
Are you still locked down? Yes, it’s Independence Day, and it’s important to you. But don’t be in too much of a rush to come out of lockdown.
Even a day as important to the American psyche as Independence, and all the sacrifices this day represents, will mean nothing to you if you’re not here to enjoy it in 2021.
Just remember that saying: Be careful what you wish for…
I’m playing safe and staying home, as I’ve done throughout the epidemic.
Wait and see is my motto. It’s stood me in good stead so far. 🙂
