About: Geraldine Evans, author of The Rafferty & Llewellyn Mystery-Series
The Rafferty & Llewellyn Mystery Series is my most prolific series. There’s 18 of them! I love to write about Detectives without a sense of humour by-pass. I’m British (in case you’re wondering about my weird spelling), and I’ve written since my twenties. Finally achieving publication in my mid-thirties.
Good job I’ve also got a sense of humour; it enabled me to shrug off all the rejections, seek out more of the same, and plough on regardless. Here’s my latest:
Detective Inspector Joe Rafferty is my main character: He’s a lapsed Catholic, working-class man. He’s honest, but comes from a family who think if they must number a copper among them, he might have the decency to be a bent one. His nearest and dearest are incorrigible in their delight in ignoring any law they don’t like. This helps me write some humorous sub-plots, where Rafferty tries to make them toe the legal line.
He’s got no chance, of course. Not with a Ma intent on obtaining off-the-back-of-a-lorry bargains.
My latest Work in Progress, (untitled so far), will be my twenty-sixth published novel, and the nineteenth in my Rafferty & Llewellyn British Mystery Series. It features DI Joe Rafferty, his prim and proper sidekick, DS Dafyd Llewellyn, and a growing cast of Rafferty’s unrepentant family, led by Ma, Kitty Rafferty.
My other mystery series is Casey & Catt and its stars are DCI Will (Willow Tree) Casey, his DS Thom Catt and Casey’s, the 60s never died, hippie parents.
